Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Civil CAD Designer III to join our team.
Build what’s next with Lake Superior Consulting! As a Civil CAD Designer III, you’ll play an important role in bringing complex engineering projects from concept to construction. You’ll take ownership of design deliverables, 3D modeling, and drawing development while collaborating with engineers and multiple disciplines to create practical solutions for our clients.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced CAD designer who enjoys solving design challenges, working independently, and serving as a technical resource to the team. You’ll work on diverse, multi-disciplined projects spanning Civil, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical design.
Responsibilities:

Perform a wide range of drafting tasks.

Design lead for projects to include 3D modeling and sheet creation.

Understand and comply with client and company drafting standards.

Consistently meet deadlines while producing accurate documents.

Conceptualize, design and communicate successfully in CAD using current industry best practices.

Maintain and organize accurate design, drawing archives and revision history.

Be able to communicate effectively while working in a team environment.

Draft Schematics (in AutoCAD), layouts, and other diagrams to support engineers on projects.

Knowledgeable in development of details and the organization of construction documents.

Provide guidance and instructions to team members.

Compute moderate calculations under the direction of an engineer.
Position Requirements:
Education, Certifications/Licenses, Experience:
-
A.A.S. Degree in Civil Engineering Technology drafting design or equivalent.

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
-
Oil and gas industry experience is a plus.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
-
Have a full understanding of 2D and 3D CAD software, preferably AutoDesk.

Advanced skills in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
-
Advanced civil site and grading design experience. (Surfaces, Corridors, pipe networks, etc.)

Survey data processing experience. (import/export survey point files, shape files, and KMZ files)

Navisworks experience is a plus.

Bluebeam Revu experience is a plus.

Proficient with Microsoft Office and some database knowledge.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Provide valuable input to the design team.

Strong leadership skills to lead a team and to ensure projects are accurate and completed on time.

Must have good mathematical background to handle common calculations.

Ability to learn new skills and work as a team to meet deadlines.
Physical Requirements and Demands:

The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.

Routinely use standard office equipment such as but not limited to: computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets.

Frequent periods of standing for extended periods.

Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.

Exposure to weather including hot and cold climates.

Ability to work long hours when projects demand.

Lake Superior Consulting offers a competitive compensation package. The actual starting salary will be determined based on a variety of factors, including your skills, experience, and office/market location. The anticipated range for this position is $35 – $45 per hour.
