Pipeline Engineer III

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Pipeline Engineer III to join our team! 

The Pipeline Engineer III will be responsible for pipeline related design and construction projects from inception through to delivery. Projects will be multi-disciplined covering civil, mechanical, and electrical work, with a strong focus on the utilities area of the business. Responsible for the successful delivery of each project through management of internal staff, external contractors, financial control, and strong management of change. Under general direction of a senior engineer, is responsible for a project or part of a project requiring a thorough knowledge of engineering and related fields.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Execute and lead multiple projects while maintaining scope, schedule, and budget from projects inception through closeout.  A typical project may include calculations, drawing packages, schedules, cost estimates, engineering assessments, reports, procedures and technical recommendations.  
  • Develop flexible and innovative project solutions that meet client expectations and needs.  
  • Perform engineering design complying with typical industry standards and/or client specifications.  
  • Work in a multidisciplinary team including drafters, mechanical, civil, chemical, and electrical engineers, field technicians, contractors, and clients.  Teams may be located within different LSC and/or client office locations across the Unites States or Canada.
  • Perform field work that typically includes scoping, quality assurance, field engineering, construction management, and contractor oversight.
  • Assist LSC Managers and Supervisors in the development of internal pipeline business operating guidelines including procedures and calculations.
  • Assist LSC Managers and Supervisors in the development of entry level pipeline engineers. May also give technical guidance to junior professionals or technicians working on a common project.
  • Work on projects led by other groups within LSC including, Integrated Engineering-Facilities, Integrity Management, and Operational Services.
  • May prepare design report and final project report drafts to be presented to LSC management.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related engineering field, from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • PE preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time for construction and operational field support.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Oil and gas industry experience a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable State and Federal regulatory requirements that govern the oil and natural gas pipeline industry (49 CFR Parts 192 & 195) and various ASME and API standards.

 

Physical Requirements and Demands:

  • The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.  Routinely use standard office equipment such as but not limited to: computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear.  
  • Frequently standing or sitting for long periods
  • Occasional lifting in up to 50lbs
  • Exposure to weather including hot and cold climates
  • Ability to work long hours and possible overtime when projects demand.

 

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Lake Superior Consulting provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, years of experience, and specific office/market location. The range of starting pay for this role is $80,200 - $110,200 per year.
