Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a CAD Technician III to join our team.
The CAD Technician III will assist the drafting and design team with creating and modifying a CAD drawing. This will include creating, modifying, receiving a basic red lined drawing and making the associated changes to the drawing. These drawings are then used to create bidding and construction documents for the client.
The CAD Technician III requires broad knowledge of operational procedures and tools obtained through extensive work experience and requires a technical education. This individual will work under limited supervision for routine situations. A CAD Technician III will also provide assistance and training to lower level employees.
Responsibilities:

Perform a wide range of drafting tasks.

Prepare plans, layouts, assembly drawings, detail drawings and sketches as directed by engineers.

Knowledge of building codes, federal transportation regulations, development of details and the organization of construction documents.

Revise existing drawings as required and correct “As Built” drawings.

Conceptualize and design in a CAD Technician role and communicate successfully in CAD using current industry standards.

Responsible for maintaining accurate design and drawing archives and revision history.

Effectively communicate while working in a team environment across multiple office locations.

Understand any overall project goals, constraints, and schedule requirements

Proactively provide status updates, discuss challenges, and address plan revisions

Deliver complete and accurate drawings within schedule parameters

Compute calculations under the direction of a designer or engineer

Find solutions to problems that arise throughout a project

Help guide and train CAD technicians

Understand advanced features of AutoCAD to aid Design Services further utilize the capabilities in AutoCAD
Position Requirements:
Education, Certifications/Licenses, Experience:
-
A.A.S. degree in drafting and design, engineering, or related field

Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience preferred
-
Previous discipline focused experience preferred

Oil/gas industry experience is necessary
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
-
Have an advanced understanding of AutoCAD
-
Advanced skillset in Autodesk 3D products (Civil 3D, Plant 3D, Revit, SolidWorks etc.)

Proficient with Microsoft Office
-
Must have good mathematical background to handle common calculations.

Willing to learn new skills and work as a team to meet deadlines.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements and Demands:

The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation. Routinely use standard office equipment such as but not limited to: computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets. Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear.

Frequent periods of standing for extended periods.

Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.

Exposure to weather including hot and cold climates.

Ability to work long hours when projects demand.

Lake Superior Consulting offers a competitive compensation package. The actual starting salary will be determined based on a variety of factors, including your skills, experience, and office/market location. The anticipated range for this position is $30 - $39 per hour.
