Civil Engineer I

The Civil Engineer I will be responsible for project engineering in our growing Engineering group. This person will support drafting and engineering efforts under the direction of a professional engineer. 

Responsibilities: 

• Learn industry practices and perform Civil/Structural design calculations utilizing governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience. 

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and perform CAD support 

• Develop 3D civil models and drawings  

• Layout and detail portions of projects 

• Organize, draft, and coordinate technical documents 

• Research design options and document findings for Engineer of Record 

• Perform field activities such as observing and recording existing field conditions; taking and verifying measurements within project area 

• Work either independently or closely with others in a team environment on construction plans with clients, architects, and other professionals 

• Review shop drawings and submittals   

Position Requirements: 

Education, Certifications/Licenses, Experience: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university 

• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred or ability to obtain 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities: 

• Experience with engineering/design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Risa 3D, etc. preferred 

• Excellent time management skills 

• Proven ability to work independently and in close collaboration with others 

Physical Requirements and Demands: 

• Frequent periods of standing for long periods. 

• Occasional lifting in up to 50lbs. 

• Exposure to weather including heat and cold climates. 

• Ability to work long hours and possible overtime when projects demand.
