Lake Superior Consulting is seeking an Engineering Account Manager-Power Generation to join our team!

 

This person will lead the strategic growth and development of key client accounts within the power market. This role will have a significant business impact on the LSC Engineering team through the scope and breadth of its responsibilities.

The Engineering Account Manager (Power Generation) will serve as a trusted partner to our clients while working closely with LSC leadership, engineering teams, project managers, and other internal groups to identify opportunities, grow relationships, and successfully deliver projects. This position combines client relationship management, business development, and project management, requiring someone who understands engineering environments and is motivated by building long-term partnerships and creating opportunities for continued growth.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and relationship builder who can understand client needs, navigate complex projects, bring the right LSC resources together, and drive projects from initial opportunity through successful completion.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Client & Account Management

  • Serve as a primary relationship leader for assigned strategic accounts and develop strong, long-term client partnerships.
  • Develop a strong understanding of client business objectives, project execution groups, organizational structure, and decision-making processes.
  • Identify strategic business opportunities within assigned markets and client accounts.
  • Develop a working knowledge of client project groups, including project scope ownership, locations, and key decision-makers.
  • Represent LSC professionally with clients, business partners, and other external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Client Experience team to strengthen relationships and deliver consistent client experience.
  • Communicate organizational objectives and provide updates on progress, opportunities, and challenges.

Business Development & Growth

  • Identify opportunities to expand LSC's scope of work within assigned accounts.
  • Participate in the development of bids and proposals and contribute to continuous improvement through win/loss reviews.
  • Understand client needs and translate those needs into clearly defined project scopes.
  • Partner with LSC leadership and technical teams to develop solutions that meet client objectives.
  • Align with leadership to establish and drive consistent, measurable performance metrics for assigned accounts.

Project Management

  • Manage key client projects using established project management practices to deliver quality work on time and within budget.
  • Lead projects through the full project lifecycle, from initial opportunity and scope development through project closeout.
  • Coordinate project teams across multiple LSC office locations and disciplines.
  • Identify project resource needs and work with discipline managers to secure the appropriate resources.
  • Develop project organization charts and establish clear roles and responsibilities for project stakeholders.
  • Maintain project tracking tools and work breakdown elements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide project status updates and reports to clients as required.
  • Monitor project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk.
  • Anticipate potential issues, assess impacts, and implement appropriate mitigation strategies early.
  • Balance multiple projects, priorities, and competing deadlines while maintaining a high level of client service.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide leadership and direction to project teams and influence others to achieve project and organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate frequently with engineering, operations, client experience, and other LSC departments.
  • Provide feedback regarding the quality and effectiveness of project deliverables.
  • Foster positive working relationships across LSC offices, disciplines, and client organizations.
  • Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Act as both a leader and team player, contributing to a collaborative environment focused on shared success.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive engineering experience
  • Proven leadership experience, including leading teams and/or complex projects.
  • Strong project management experience and a working knowledge of project management concepts, processes, and tools.
  • Experience managing client relationships and/or strategic accounts.
  • Strong business development and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly understand diverse client needs and adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional and geographically distributed project teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently deliver defined project scopes on time and within budget.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills, including the ability to assess urgency, importance, and risk.
  • Ability to positively influence others and drive results in the best interest of the project team, client, and organization.

Lake Superior Consulting offers a competitive compensation package. The actual starting salary will be determined based on a variety of factors, including your skills, experience, and office/market location. The anticipated salary/hourly range for this position is $128,000- $155,000.
