Sr Project Cost Analyst

Lake Superior Consulting is hiring a Senior Project Cost Analyst at our client location in Duluth, MN.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop project budgets in accordance with utility accounting practices to ensure financial integrity of regulatory reporting requirements.
Provide financial analysis, budgeting and reporting for capital construction projects
Develop and monitor cost breakdown structure by identifying the major deliverables of each functional area.
Utilize Power BI to develop and maintain dashboards that are linked to the project schedule and other valuable project data for project team visibility.
Facilitate monthly and weekly cost reviews with various stakeholders to create initial budgets, monitor spend, & adjust forecasts.
Interpret the performance of the schedule activities, analyze impacts to cash flow, and communicate issues to project management.
Understand and adhere to Company financial controls related to capital construction projects.
Audit invoices for adherence to contract terms and conditions. Ensure financial records accurately reflect work progress.
Perform regular cost variance investigations to ensure accuracy and consistency in estimates and actual cost. Identify trends, patterns, and root causes of cost variances.
Facilitate project change control process to ensure accurate documentation and communication regarding changes to scope, budget, schedule, and forecast at complete.
Ensure month-end forecast reporting package is accurate for use in detailed cost reviews, cash flow analysis and reporting to Project Management and Executives.
Develop positive relationships and communication channels with various internal and external stakeholders to promote efficient information flow related to projects.
Learn and utilize various software systems i.e. PowerPlant, Oracle, Primavera, Maximo, Teams, SharePoint, and email.
Develops and maintains report formats and procedures.
Provide training on budgeting and accounting expertise and recommends appropriate accounting treatment of project expenditures.
Integrate with project team and actively participate in project meetings and attend regular check-ins with various project team members.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or equivalent.
If equivalent, must have taken related accounting courses.
Eight years or more job related experience
