CAD Intern

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a CAD Intern to join our team in our Minneapolis or Duluth, MN office.

The CAD Intern will assist the drafting and design team with creating and modifying CAD drawings. This will include creating, modifying, receiving a basic red lined drawing and making the associated changes to the drawing. These drawings are then used to create bidding and construction documents for the client.

The CAD Intern is an entry-level position. This individual’s work will be closely supervised and will follow routine or standard procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Perform a wide range of drafting tasks.
• Prepare plans, layouts, assembly drawings, detail drawings and sketches as directed by Designers and engineers.
• Revise existing drawings as required and correct “As Built” drawings.
• Communicate effectively while working in a team environment.
• Perform basic calculations.

Position Requirements:

• No experience necessary
• High school diploma required
• Have a good understanding of AutoCAD
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Willing to learn new skills and work as a team to meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements and Demands:

• The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.  Routinely use standard office equipment such as but not limited to: computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets.
• The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear.
• Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
• Exposure to weather including hot and cold climates.
• Ability to work long hours when projects demand.
• Ability to productively work from a remote working environment as needed.
• This role is expected to work daily at the LSC office.  Occasional arrangements can be made with your manager.

Lake Superior Consulting offers a competitive compensation package. The actual starting salary will be determined based on a variety of factors, including your skills, experience, and office/market location. The anticipated range for this position is $20 - $23 per hour.
