Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Structural CAD Designer to join our growing team !
The Sturctural CAD Designer will be responsible for creation and/or modification and implementation of facilities related and controls drawings with direction from Engineers. Designer will be responsible to create bidding and construction documents for client from inception to final Issued for BID and/or Issued for Construction. Projects will be multi-disciplined covering structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical works and Designer will need to work with other disciplines to integrate and coordinate structural deliverable with other team disciplines. Responsible for the successful delivery of each project through management of internal staff and strong management of change. The CAD Designer III will apply advanced knowledge of their job area which is typically obtained through an advanced education and work experience. This individual will manage projects and processes, while working independently with limited supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and assist in project completion packages and associated documents
- Revise existing drawings as required and correct “As Built” drawings.
- Consistently meet deadlines while producing accurate documents
- Conceptualize, design and communicate successfully in CAD using current industry best practices.
- Maintain and organize accurate design and drawing archives and revision history. Be able to communicate effectively while working in a team environment.
- Provide guidance and instructions to technicians and designers
- Provide valuable input to the design team
- Find solutions to problems that arise throughout a project
- Modify drawings based on red lined drawings from an engineer or designer with little to no assistance
- Understand and help develop company drafting quality process and check
- Stay up to date on current CAD programs and drawing standards
- Compute advanced calculations with some direction from a designer or engineer
Position Requirements:
- A.A.S. Degree in Structural/Architectural drafting or equivalent.
- CADworx proficiency required
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
- Strong Structural Steel design and fabrication knowledge including 3D Model creation to create automated fabrication drawings, BOM production and fabrication documentation.
- Experienced in 2D Structural Steel and concrete design detailing
- Moderate understanding of government codes and regulations
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and some database knowledge.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills to work and lead a team to ensure projects are accurate and completed on time Must have good mathematical background to handle common calculations.
- Willing to learn new skills and work as a team to meet deadlines.
Physical Requirements and Demands:
- The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation. Routinely use standard office equipment such as but not limited to: computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets.
- Regularly required to use hands ad fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear.
- Frequent periods of standing for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to weather including hot and cold climates.
- Ability to work long hours when projects demand.
